Stochastic art.

“Stochastic – having a random probability distribution or pattern that may be analyzed statistically but may not be predicted precisely”

Randomness, uncertainty, a little like 2018 for me!

I’ve been intrigued by the concept of randomness in the arts for quite some time. I dabbled in it shortly during the 12-30 project (Sept 8Sept 9 and Sept. 23), did also some research on it for the Bridges conference in Seoul, and it looks like now is a good time to go back into it.

Where it will take me? I don’t know! But after a year exploring the well-organized world of mineralogy and crystal, it was tempting to shift to the world of randomness and the unpredictable patterns that emerge from the apparent chaos we live in.

I thought for a minute that I would organize this new blog around some form of randomness – anytime post, whenever – But it would not be fair to you, reader, it would be bad in terms of communication and it would defeat the study of randomness itself, as I understand it: bring various elements on the same stage and study the – what if? – changing a few parameters here and there.

I’ll be posting once a week, every new week.

In between, I’ll be studying the many programs and scripts that create random visualizations – but for a very different purpose.

It should make for an interesting adventure, I ‘ll hope you’ll enjoy it too
